Domotex Hannover

On Friday last week Terry flew to Europe to attend Domotex in Hannover. We were not exhibiting, but in retrospect probably should have. In a show dominated by synthetic products and engineered Oak, our products would have stood out. With a limited marketing budget it seemed more prudent to reconnoitre and to meet with a handful of clients and suppliers than to plunge right in.

Nevertheless, we are encouraged to do more in Europe. In spite of the negative impressions one obtains from media reporting, Europe is wealthy and there is demand for luxury products, albeit a relatively small niche. For a small and specialised company like ours there is opportunity here. And with anti-dumping being imposed on engineered products from China, our solid panels are relatively more competitive these days.

In any case it was worthwhile because Terry met with some very good potential clients as well as some important suppliers that we don’t catch up with often. Face-to-face is always the best way to get a good deal.
